Career Profile

I am a HPC Engineer and Python developer with around 7 years of experience. I work on development and maintainance of a computing cluster in AstraZeneca. It is a fully fledged computation platform, allowing to run most sophisticated workflows. The ever-growing catalogue of tools, we make available to our scientists, makes this hybrid HPC/private-cloud environment a perfect space for exploration and discovery.

My primary focus is the delivery of services my team members and the AZ scientists interact directly with. Through contributing to workflows, scripts, services and APIs I help with aggregating data, integrating services and operating the platform through automation.

Experiences

HPC Engineer/Python Developer, AstraZeneca Pharma Poland sp. z o. o.

2019 - now
  • internal applications/users catalogue with frontend on top and API/automation underneath. Django REST Framework/Celery/ReactJS/Ant Design

  • scientific applications installation. EasyBuild/Jenkins

  • day-to-day operations and development. Ansible/HashiCorp stack (Terraform, Consul, Nomad, Vault)/Docker/OpenStack

  • helper/utility scripting. Python/Bash

DevOps and HPC Administrator, Programming Support at Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, PAS

2015 - 2019

I took care after in-house HPC (SLURM MD) and VPS (Xen) farm.

Science Popularization

2018

FameLab semi-finalist. My 3 minutes talk of the Genetic Interactions Networks and Phylogenetic Profiles can be viewed here.

Lead Developer, PhD Student

2015 - 2019
Institute of Biochemistry and Biophysics, PAS

The main goal of my doctorate project was to test whether there is any relation between genetic interactions and phylogenetic profiles. This required integrating different type of data, downloading datasets with available REST APIs and heavy-load processing on a HPC cluster. prwlr is a toolkit developed along the project. prwlr depends on and integrates with numpy and pandas.

mothulity was a side-project which arised from my own needs for saving time and effort in metagenomic analyses. mothulity is an easy-to-use tool that makes work with Mothur trivial.
